low power

My contract job is scheduled to be ending next week. There's a chance it might be extended at the last moment but that remains undetermined. I've known since I was hired back in March that September 30th would be the end date. I should have been planning months in advance for the transition but I have done very little to prepare myself.

I owe e-mail replies to about three dozen people. This blog has been sparse on the updates, too. There are definitely topics for me to write about! I even have more things I planned to write about my time in Bhutan but it seems too long ago now. Is it? Similarly, I have several ideas for travel writing submissions along the same vein but I may be too far removed from the subject at this point...

The problem is that when I get home from a day furrowing my brow in front of a computer at the office, I'm spent. I'm doing well to get my occasional freelance editing work done. Anything more than that seems to require too much after-hours focus. I consume media but I don't have the brain energy leftover to create or correspond.

I should have set myself deadlines and priorities for the job search - I get my tasks done on time at work because I plan out my steps like this. As for e-mails, blogs and writing, must I put pressure on myself to finish things in my leisure time, too?

There is no set plan for living one's life just the goal of enjoying it - If you would rather watch TV when you get home, then do it.

Once you find yourself truly out of work then those 9-5 days are to be spent searching for the next one.

Also, it might be a good time to set up another travel deal like you did last time. Now you have a proven track record at it.

I agree with the anonymous comment... you'll have plenty of time to get what you need/want to do done.

Time flies, doesn't it? I can't believe it's September, let alone almost October!

Oh, and I'd love to here more about Bhutan!

Oh, Anonymous and Lara. I have plenty of time after 5pm. I don't have mental energy left after work to accomplish more, that is the problem.

I can hold my head high and say that at least I am not wasting my time watching TV! I was barely watching half and hour a day then in late August, I lost the 5 free channels I had, so the TV has not been switched on for weeks.

It is often said that looking for a job is a full time job. I'm not sure about that but I would agree that it's tough to look for a job when you are in a job.

Totally agree, its hard after a whole day staring at the computer to go home and stare at it some more to do blog posts ect.

But I agree with Lara, I'd love to hear more about Bhutan! Its not too late to write about it. At least I hope not since I have about a dozen post ideas related to my vegas trip from back in May!

Related to jobs, I'm sure that you will find something fabulous in a very short time.
