I'm home in Waterloo for the Easter long weekend. Presently, I'm sitting in my dad's office, typing awkwardly on my old iBook (the one whose screen disconnects if it's opened more than 80 degrees). Snow is coming down in big flakes. We had a green Christmas and now a white Easter. The world is full of surprises.
The moment has long passed but I am DETERMINED to post about the NYC trip:
Saturday March 24th:
-I'm awake early so I make a Starbucks run to Delancy Street. I discover that the neighbourhood has been taken over by cheerfully bespectacled gorillas.
-Getting ready to go out, the girls insist that I wear something I believed to be a tunic as a dress. It is very short, but I figure I can get away with it in New York. Verdict: breezy but liberating.
-We walk all over town. Or, part of town. I don't know the specific names: SoLo? TriUnCa? The Hamlet? I do remember Washington Square Park. AM and I annoy AJ by pressing our faces against shop windows and taking touristy photos.
-People-watching from a cafe. Then, manicures at the lovely Iris Nail on Broadway.
-Later in the evening, we cab it to Landmarc Restaurant at West Broadway and Leonard. We're put on the waiting list (no reservations taken) and are advised that we should have a table in an hour and 45 minutes. We while away the time at the chic and shadowy Church Lounge, inside the Tribeca Grand Hotel. Dinner time! We return to Landmarc when we get the call. I have a hearty steak, Gorgonzola and arugula salad that is definitely worth writing home/blogging about. We end the night with double desserts, including mini cones of fancy ice cream.
