...so I'm telling you, child!
Here's my up-to-the-minute round-up of rumors surrounding U2's stay in Toronto. Please note this info is 100% unconfirmed! And contraditions abound.
-U2 arrived in Toronto on Tuesday
-U2 is NOT staying at the Four Seasons in Yorkville this year because it's booked up with Toronto International Film Fest stuff
-The band has rented the Air Canada Centre on the 9th, 10th and 11th for rehearsal (the concerts themselves are the 12th, 14th, 16th and 17th).
-U2 may open the ACC rehearsals to fans who show up in the right place at the right time
-U2 may open rehearsal on Sunday as a Red Cross fundraiser (rumor source)
-Band members might attend the TIFF opening of "Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man" at 7pm on Sunday at Victoria College since they appear in the film
-U2 might be at the TIFF opening of "Breakfast on Pluto" at 9pm on Saturday at Ryerson, since band pal Gavin Friday stars
-The GA line-up regulations are still totally unknown!
Do you have any info to add to my already fervored state? You know, things would be so much easier for me if I could just be enamoured with some local unknown rock band. But noooo, I have to pick the world's most popular group! It's a good thing I enjoy a challenge...
UPDATE: The very latest official news from U2.com says, "The band are set to take part in two televised benefit concerts this weekend, raising funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Thousands of people are displaced without food, shelter, or electricity - and untold numbers were killed as a result of the hurricane off the Gulf Coast. Of those who survived, many may not be able to return to their homes for weeks or months - and may not even have anything to return to at all.
Tomorrow, Friday, you can catch U2 taking part in 'Shelter from the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast'. While on Saturday, you can catch them as they perform for 'ReAct Now', an MTV special raising funds for relief organizations. That concert airs 8-12 PM ET/PT.
More news as we get it, and, just to add that contrary to reports the band won't be opening up rehearsals to fans over the weekend. Sorry!"
