I Don't Believe That Rock And Roll Can Really Change The World

Listening to music at work seems to make me concentrate more: I'm less likely to surf the internet when the tunes are on. This morning I was looking for a particular song on my iPod and I ended up just playing all the songs starting with the letter G. It turned out to be a pretty sweet playlist! Here's what I have spinning on a Friday morning. Did I miss any important G songs?

This playlist was brought to you by the letter G:

Genie in a Bottle - Christina Aguiliera The truth is out, I'm a closet Christina fan.
Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones This just has to be their best song...
Girlfriend in a Coma - The Smiths It's really serious.
Glasnost - Manic Street Preachers A magnificent song! My fave on this list.
Gloria - U2 Four years of high school Latin and I still can't understand the lyrics...
Glory Days - Pulp Oh, I could be a genius if I just put my mind to it.
Go To Sleep - Radiohead We don't want the loonies taking over.
God Part II - U2 So funky and clever! Also the origin of this post's title.
God Put A Smile Upon Your Face - Coldplay Meh.
Gone (new mix) - U2 The new mix is even more heartbreaking than the original.
Good Feeling - Travis Scrapin' me off the cieling... I love Travis so.
Green Eyes - Coldplay Hey, I have green eyes, too!

If I could add songs titles starting with 'The' with the next word staring with G, I would also have:

The Girl who Wanted to be God - Manic Street Preachers Very rousing.
The Grass is Green - Nelly Furtado Why does everyone else hate her?
The Ground Beneath Her Feet - U2 Gorgeous instrumentation, lyrics by Salman Rushdie

How about's Portishead's 'Glory Box'?

Great list though, Andrea.

PS re Nelly Furtado, I don't mind her, but I know people who call her 'Nelly Retardo' here.

Just the best song of the 50s, Great Balls of Fire, and the 60s, Good Vibrations. Always nice to see some Pulp listed though :)

You've got quite the G collection! I'd only add 'God Only Knows' by the Beach Boys... one of the best of all time.

Unfortunately, rock'n'roll can't change the world...right Bob Geldof?
Game Face - Gov't Mule
G song, G band!

Love the list! Would have personally added "God" by Tori Amos...
