The Tonsillectomy - Day 8

Hi. It's been a while. I just wasn't up to writing recently. I've spent most of the last week propped up in various beds, couches and deck chairs. I'm still in rather more pain than I'd like. Still can't eat solid food, still can't talk, really. But I'm going back to work on Monday because I've used up all my days off and because things are starting to pile up for me there...

It's always a thrill to be on holiday on weekdays when the rest of the world is Business as Usual. I'm sorry I couldn't appreciate it as much as I ordinarily would have. It was, though, really lovely to be back home (i.e. my parents' home), which, for me, feels like one of those grand countryside estates where frail 19th century ladies would go to recover from vague ailments. The most pleasant thing is to sit outside in the sunshine, taking in the botanical garden that is our backyard.

My Backyard

Golden finches and cardinals chirp and swoop about, grey doves splash in the bird bath, and iridescent green hummingbirds zoom over your shoulder on their daily rounds of the blossoms. It's a treat to sit and watch it all. Thinking about it, there really is nowhere else in the world I would have preferred to spend this week of recovery. Home sweet home, indeed.

Wow, that is some beautiful garden!

I stumbled across your blog a month or so, and really enjoy reading it.

Glad to hear that you are starting to feel a bit better, if not as better as you'd like.
